Getting There
From Johannesburg (+-500KM = +- 7 hours)
- Take the N12 to Witbank (Emalahleni), where the N12 highway links up with the N4 highway.
- Continue with the N4 towards Nelspruit (Mbombela).
- Approximately 60 km past Middleburg turn left on the R 540 to Belfast. (opposite the Engen fuel station)
- In Belfast (eMakhazeni) turn right towards Dullstroom (eMnotweni) and Lydenburg (Mashishing).
- In Lydenburg(Mashishing) follow the signs for the R36 to Origstad, Hoedspruit or Tzaneen.
- Stay on the R36, pass through Origstad and the beautiful Able Erasmus Pass as well as the JG Strydom tunnel and follow the signs to Hoedspruit.
- At Hoedspruit drive straight through the town and turn right at the stop street onto the R40 towards Klaserie/ White River.
- Continue about 23 km and turn left at the sign to Guernsey (this is just after the Hoedspruit centre for endangered species).
- Pass through the control gate and continue on this tarred road until it becomes gravel, then continue on the gravel road until the T-junction where you will turn right.
- Follow this road for about 4 km and turn left at the sign for Guernsey Private Nature Reserve.
- Continue on this road until you reach the reserve entrance gate.
- Once you have signed in at the gate and paid the conservation levy* follow the Ngama Lodge directions signs.
From Pretoria: (+-500KM = +- 7 hours)

From Orpen Gate (Kruger National Park)
- Exit Kruger National Park and stay on the R531 for about 40 km.
- Turn right at the sign for Guernsey and proceed through the control gate.
- Drive for about 8 km and turn right at the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve sign.
- Continue on this road to the reserve entrance gate.
- Once you have signed in at the gate and paid the conservation levy* follow the Ngama Lodge directions signs.
By air
- The nearest airport is Eastgate airport which is just outside of Hoedspruit and about 45 mins from Ngama Tented Safari Lodge.
- South African Express Airlines operates 2 daily flights to and from Johannesburg as well as 3 flights a week to and from Cape Town.
- Transfers can be arranged on request.
